Practical storage solutions for smaller spaces.
A lean-to shed is defined by its single-slope roof—high on one side, sloping down to the other. It’s a simple, practical design that works especially well in tighter spots.
Most lean-tos are long and narrow, which makes them a smart way to use up those awkward stretches of yard that often go to waste. They can stand alone or be built right up against an existing wall or structure.
If you just need solid, ready-to-go storage, a lean-to gets the job done. It’s a good fit for bikes, lawn equipment, and garden tools.
Site prep for a lean-to shed follows the same basics as any other shed, but the single-slope roof puts all the water in one place. Rain and snow will run off to one side, so it’s important to plan for that and keep water from collecting along the base.
A crushed stone pad is usually the best place to start. It drains well, holds up over time, and keeps the shed sitting level. If you’re looking for something more permanent or heavy-duty, a concrete or block foundation is a solid upgrade.
